The team behind Vietnamese restaurant Pho Mai and newly reopened bakery Keefer Court — Michael Bui, Mai Bui, and Peter Do — have partnered with the owners of Eden Prairie’s popular Asia Mall to bring a new Asian shopping center and food hall to the north suburbs. Asia Village, as the new venture is named, it set to open in Blaine’s Northtown Mall sometime in 2025.
Michael Bui made the announcement in a Facebook livestream on May 1. The new space is approximately 130,000 square feet, which is even bigger than Asia Mall — in addition to a 40,000-square-foot Asian grocery store, it’ll offer all-you-can-eat sushi, hot pot, and Korean barbecue, among other restaurants. “Another day, another buffet,” Bui said in the livestream. “We’re gonna go big. We’re going to spend every penny we have making this a destination that people will enjoy.”
Bui says that the Asia Village team hopes to start renovations in August; from there, construction will likely take 12 to 16 months. He plans to begin the leasing process soon.
Asia Village is among a number of Asian shopping malls to open in the Twin Cities suburbs in the past few years. Along with Asia Mall, which was an immediate hit when it opened in November 2022, Ate Ate Ate and Enson Market, a food hall and marketplace combo coming to Burnsville Center, is slated to open sometime this year; a second Hmongtown Marketplace is also in the works at Maplewood Mall.
